seo roundup smallHello everyone and welcome to the SEO roundup for December the 17th,things are a little quieter on the SEO news front this week but we still have some great posts for you to read including;

More evidence duplicate content is just a scare tactic, some link building basics, a simple SEO theory that makes understanding the SEO process that little easier, grabbing extra bits of traffic, and a fantastic affiliate marketing idea.

The first link we have is an interesting (if somewhat aggressive post) from Michael Gray over at Wolf Howl. The post discusses duplicate content issues inside Google and speaks about how Gray believes Google exaggerate their ability to detect and filter duplicate content.

It’s a well written post and very informative and I’m on Gray’s side in this one, duplicate content to me has always been a scare tactic more than anything, but rightly so, people should product their own content but we all know how lazy some webmasters are.

The second post is from SEO Book and is just an easy to follow guide to link building strategies for smaller businesses or in your case, smaller affiliate sites. While there is nothing especially new in this post it is a good summary for newer affiliates or people only just beginning to understand SEO.

The third recommended story is from SEOMoz, it’s only a short post and the idea is a simple one but it’s worth checking out.

Essentially it’s a simple pyramid planner for an SEO strategy but it’s easy to understand and I strongly agree with the order it recommends you work on your SEO strategies.

The fourth post is by Max Carpner and featured on SEOptimise and looks at dressing up your Google listing through a selection of methods.

These are easy to follow tips that make a lot of sense and could potentially increase traffic to your site and conversions further down the line, give some of these tips a try and why not let the other affiliates and I know which ones worked best for you?

——

Finally a post more related to general affiliate marketing than SEO but totally worth a read none the less. Kieron Donoghue of Here.org.uk wrote an excellent post this week on his strategy to capitalise on searches generated by large media events.

He tells how some simple efforts literally generated him server breaking traffic with the potential for a lot of revenue. These are the kind of affiliate strategies that you should definitely be following if you want to be making large amounts of money.

That’s all we have this week, hope you are having a nice Christmas so far and all the best in the festive period!
